The Arkansas Sheriffs' Association (ASA) stands firmly in support of the Constitution and the Second Amendment rights afforded to citizens. In light of the recent surge in violence and mass shootings, the association acknowledges that these events have prompted critical discussions surrounding firearm sales and possession.

Importantly, the ASA emphasizes the necessity of holding offenders accountable for their actions, rather than imposing restrictions on law-abiding citizens. The association advocates for the enforcement of existing gun laws and supports enhancements to current background checks, particularly in identifying individuals who may have mental health challenges.

Furthermore, the ASA does not endorse any legislation that compromises the Second Amendment rights of citizens or imposes undue restrictions on lawful gun possession and sales.

Comprising Sheriffs from across the state, the Arkansas Sheriffs' Association is dedicated to serving and protecting the residents of Arkansas. The organization provides timely updates and relevant information concerning law enforcement issues, ensuring that Sheriffs and Deputies are well-informed about developments within the state and the ongoing activities of the ASA.
